Trust cannot be packed, weighed or palletized. Yet it travels around the world with every Holland Onion.
But trust has a curious quality: the moment you have to tell people how reliable you are, it becomes a little less convincing. After all, claiming quality is one thing. Proving it is another.
That is why we prefer to leave that judgement to an independent authority. The Dutch Quality Control Bureau (KCB) inspects our export onions in accordance with legally established European trade standards and regulations. And that goes beyond what can be seen on the outside: the internal quality of the onion is assessed as well.
Those strict criteria serve a very practical purpose: ensuring that Holland Onions arrive in excellent condition after travelling, often over great distances, to more than 130 destinations worldwide.
But trust never rests on a single link in the chain. It stems from a combination of independent inspections, advanced automation at our processing facilities and sector-wide agreements throughout the Dutch onion supply chain. That’s what makes Holland Onions such a trusted product on international markets. So when a customer on the other side of the world receives a shipment of Dutch onions, he receives more than just onions: the assurance that promises are kept. And perhaps that is our most important quality of all: trust that is built, shipment by shipment.
In our latest mini-documentary, Building Trust, we get to watch a moment that usually stays out of sight.
