The onion harvest in the Netherlands amounted to 1,5 million (metric) tons in the last season (yield figures 2017). Around 95% of this is intended for export. The processes of cultivation, storage, processing, sorting and packing are sublime and optimally designed. Processing and packaging plants are often within a stone's throw of the harbours or we use inland vessels to ship the onions to the international mainports.
